Chatham County, early 1900s. Slave quarters at Hermitage Plantation owned by Henry McAlpin. It was located about three miles north of Savannah. McAlpin operated a brick kiln there and produced bricks known as Savannah Greys. The Hermitage has been demolished and today Union Camp Paper Corp. occupies the site.
