Chatham County, ca. 1900. Plantation home of Henry McAlpin was located about 3 miles north of Savannah. The home may have been designed by Charles B. Cluskey of Savannah and is in Greek Revival style. McAlpine operated a brick kiln at Hermitage Plantation and produced bricks known as Savannah Greys. The Hermitage has been demolished and today Union Camp Paper Corp. occupies the site.
