The name of Lt. Julian Bethune Jordan, USN, killed in action fighting the Japs, Dec. 7, 1941, was commemorated Monday at the Charleston Navy Yard, when this destroyer escort, the USS Jordan, slid down the ways into the water of the Cooper River. Sponsor for the vessel was his widow, Mrs. Lucy H. Jordan of Dawson, Georgia, shown here at the bow of the vessel just before the launching.
