About this collection

This collection consists of historical and modern images documenting many aspects of everyday life in Georgia. These images were donated to the Archives by current Georgia residents and descendants of former Georgians from across the country. The collection is an extension of the Archives' Vanishing Georgia collection.

The Virtual Georgia collection is intended to document the lives of Georgians from all walks of life: their religious and social celebrations, homes, art, architecture, dress, and customs. As the collection grows it will encompass a broader and richer documentation of Georgia life, particularly in the early part of the 21st century.

Usage Note: Students and teachers may use images in classroom reports and presentations if the following credit line is included with the image: Courtesy of the Georgia Archives. Each image has a "Cite as" field in the Document Description. Users can form a complete citation by adding the identifier for the image.

Publication in any form, including print, website, social media and blogs, requires permission.  We charge not-for-profit and commercial use fees to support maintenance of the collection.  For information, contact
